Week1-3: The House continued

Decorating 'Earth Group House' was quite an intricate project and we needed all hands on deck and all week to finish.  We left a kind note for the other children not to play with the house until we were finished…….and one of the children left a kind note for us that read ……"Why do you have a crib on the roof?"  Signed - Sofia.

Is a crib on the roof decoration?  Earth Group decided that the crib belonged back inside the bedroom, it was not decoration for the roof.

However, Paxton made spring boards for the roof and the second floor of the house.  When I asked him why that was decoration he said "Because it makes it more fun.  You can Jump off and that's so fun, otherwise it's just a boring house."

Mila decorated the baby's crib to make it look nice and also to stop the baby from falling out.

Ryleigh made several pieces for the house including rugs, and light fixtures.  She also made a butterfly that was flying through the window.  She said, "it's not decoration, it's live, and flying in."

About five minutes before afternoon stories, Paxton made a request:  Can I play in the sandbox?  I told him that we would be cleaning up soon so there was no time, but he could play there later in the afternoon.  He then said "Why can't we play with the sand at group time?"   I said that we are exploring decorations, to which he replied "Well, can't we use sand for decorations?"  And with that brilliant idea, we will be exploring sand as a medium for decorations and telling stories next week.
