The children found it quite challenging to differentiate between the beat of a song and the rhythm of a song.. To continue our exploration we decided to revisit a familiar song, "Daddy Love the Bear." First we marched with high knees and swinging arms to the 4|4 beat, and then we used our hands to tap the rhythm. It was my hope that the children would be able to feel the difference in their bodies as they use their bodies to express the beat and the rhythm. We used little bear figures to tap the rhythm on top of t 4 | 4 beat was represented by 4 conjoined hearts.
