Week 5.3 Happy and Sad Music



We read the book "When I Feel Sad" to help the children brainstorm about time when they feel sad and when they feel  happy.  In the story the little guinea pig feels sad when someone is angry or when something bad happens.  Eventually she realizes that they feeling doesn't last forever.



The children then listened to different types of music.  Even though these are youtube videos, we did not look at the images, we simply listened and then discussed how we felt.

Everyone enjoyed this music except for Kesler who thought that it was too loud

Secondly Irish Music
All of the children felt that tis music was happy and made them want to dance or "jump up a lot of times."

Connor thought this is was just okay but it would be better if there was singing.  Matthew thought that this was a little happy and sad together; Kesler shrugged his shoulders.  francine thought that this was the only "nice music.

The children then expressed what happy music feels like in their art:
