Week 2-3 Sand as Decoration

We can also use sand as decoration.  Today the children are going to first draw a design or picture of their choice, put glue on the lines of the picture or design, and then decorate with colourful sand.  I learned a lot about the children and their process through this activity.  In most cases, the children's work evolved- what they mapped out or drew with pencil crayon morphed into something different once they added the coloured sand.

Connor said that he drew just a design of circles, and he described his colourful finished product as stars and planets

Paxton said that he was drawing an octopus, and he later described it as a blue rose, because he likes blue

Kesler was so enthusiastic about this activity that he made 3 of them.  Although he did not say what they were, he did put them in order for me.  Below:  Mila making a rainbow.

Ryleigh design turned into a butterfly flying.

Cameron drew a bus and he decorated it with green sand.

Matthew said he wouldn't know what he was making until he finished.  He made "shining waves of water."
