Week1-2: Orin's Monkey Song

Orin plays the cello and he was excited to teach the group the "monkey song."  The children are well acquainted with dot maps and song games through their work in music with Dr. Fleurette Sweeney and the other teachers at Creative Minds.  First Orin sang the song, and then we created the dot map - quite literally moving from sound (song) to symbol (dots).  The dots represent the syllables of the words which also represents the rhythm of the song.  This is a fun way to learn the song and promote literacy as the children "read" the map.

I'm a little monkey
Climbing down a ladder
Climbing way down low to
Pick a pink banana
