This week we explore different ways to express how we feel by making masks that do not mask our emotions. This is in direct contrast with the children in the other groups who made animal masks that helped them tell a story. At first the children thought that they could not tell any stories if I could see their faces. I asked show me what happy feels like and I saw smiles. So their task was to decorate their masks, one side happy and one side sad. For most of the children the sad side had few embellishments. Connor decided that he would be angry and sad.

| I am happy when I build structure; I am sad when someone breaks it |
| I am sad when I wake up |
| I am happy when I chase my friends; I am sad when I get tired |
| I am sad sometimes when I'm busy playing and I have to clean up and I'm not finished |
| I am happy right now, see! |
| I am angry right now, right here and then after I'm always sad |
| I like being happy at school |
| I'm happy because I saved my structure and it's still there; I get sad when some people don't listen |
